Mt Buller will open four lifts this Saturday and celebrate the opening weekend of the season with skiers and boarders hitting the slopes thanks to bumper snowfalls and extensive snowmaking.
“Our snowmaking team has been working around the clock to make the most of the sub-zero conditions and we’ve pumped out the equivalent of 25 Olympic swimming pools of snow this week to build a great base for the natural snow that has also been falling, “ said Laurie Blampied, General Manager of Buller Ski Lifts.
“These ideal conditions mean we can open more lifts than we anticipated and will have four lifts operating for the opening on Saturday to get skiers and boarders out enjoying their first turns.”
Discounted season opening lift tickets will be on sale $50 for adults and $25 for children. Sightseeing passes are also available at $15 for adults and just $10 for children. Children under 5 and over 70s ski for free! Ski School will also open its doors with limited lessons available.
Mt Buller’s latest snow report confirms up to 45cms of snow cover and records 22cms of fresh snow has fallen in the past 24 hours as the cold front crossed Victoria.
There has been growing excitement as news of the bumper snows has spread. High Country Reservations 1800 BULLER accommodation service has been receiving increasing enquiries for accommodation and ski packages while hundreds of new members have signed up for snow updates at mtbuller.com.au and on facebook to keep up to date with the plans for the season opening.
