U.S. Open snowboarding championships begin today

STRATTON — Five days of elite snowboarding competition begins today as the 29th annual Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships get under way at Stratton Mountain. Action begins with semifinals today (slopestyle) and Thursday (halfpipe). The slopestyle and rail jam finals are Friday while halfpipe champions will be crowned Saturday. The junior jam concludes events Sunday. The championships feature free admission. Activities also include a sponsors’ village while live concerts are planned for Friday and Saturday. The competition will be televised on ESPN2 on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
