U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Championships in Sun Valley this week

KETCHUM, ID. (KMVT-TV) Snowboards, skies, and athletes will hit the winter wonder land of Sun Valley all this week. Hundreds of college students are vying for top honors at this year’s 2011 U.S. Collegiate Skiing and Snowboarding national championships. Athletes will hit the slopes of Baldy and Dollar Mountain in skiing, snowboarding free style jumping and Nordic competitions and resort officials are happy they’ve come after word of mouth sparked officials interest. Laura Sullivan is the executive director of the USCSA. She said “we flew out, took a look at it, looked at the venues and realized it was a perfect location for what we were doing.” Sun Valley spokesman Jack Sibbach said “they’re the cream of the crop and, not only the resort, or we excited, it’s like putting on a mini Olympics, but I think the community is very excited about hosting this event.” For a whole week college athletes will be showing their best for anyone who cares to check it out. Multiple events are scheduled everyday till Saturday March 12.
