Winter Games NZ arrives on smart phone

Smart phone users around the world can keep up with the latest news and results from 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games with the development of a new stand alone app for both iPhone and Android phones.

During the Games, users can receive up-to-the minute news feeds, real time results from the world’s top athletes and check out where all the QRC Downtown Sessions action is at night, following a day of world-class winter sports competition on the slopes.

100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games takes place from 12- 28 August 2011 featuring 22 snow and ice sports over 38 events and involving 1,000 elite athletes from 50 nations. The 16-day long Games also include a full Downtown Sessions festival programme featuring films, live music and entertainment and rail jam extravaganzas in Queenstown, Lake Wanaka, Dunedin and Methven. The on-snow competition will take place at Coronet Peak, Cardrona Alpine Resort, Snow Park NZ, Snow Farm and Mt Hutt with the ice sports taking place at Naseby and Dunedin. Torstein Triples for Winter X Win

Scotty Lago Finds Pain

Olympic bronze medalist Scotty Lago has found himself in a bit of pain with a bad stack in the Wyoming backcountry whilst filming with Travis Rice. Word is they took a solid week to build the monster kicker (shown) so Rice could throw something new and special. Read more »

Winter X Games Europe – Torah Through To Finals

March 10th, 2010

UPDATE 12/03/10 – Torah has picked up WXE Silver in the SuperPipe Finals with a solid score of 95. American rider Kaitlyn Farrington threw down harder though scoring a super impressive 97 to take Gold, while Sophie Rodriguez took bronze. Congrats to all riders! More to come..

The Winter X Games Europe is underway at the moment in Tignes, France with Australia’s gold medal winner Torah Bright not failing to impress qualifying first (convincingly) for the superpipe finals.
