Thredbo Freeride Series – Back in 2011

Back for 2011, the Thredbo Freeride Series is kicking off next weekend with the Rails comp. Running 5 years strong now the series is definitely a standout for the season. It hosts 5 events across various disciplines and anyone can enter. Here is a quick write-up and check the site for full information:

Celebrating five years of sliding, high flying and breathtaking riding action, the Thredbo Freeride Series is back in 2011 with five big events that are sure to fire up the pro’s and ignite the up and coming talent this season..

With Charles Beckinsale and Sammy Towers at the helm, the park crew will create some great venues and features for the rails, freeride, ridercross and big air events. There is $50,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, so there is plenty to get excited about. The Thredbo Freeride Series is for skiers, boarders, opens and juniors.

Jindabyne Traffic Delays Apology

Over the weekend, many snow-going commuters were thrown into chaos with traffic delays of over 2 hours due to inadequate road infrastructure and the NSW police conducting alcohol and drug testing on cars en-route to the NSW snow fields. Read more »

2010 Rip Curl FreeRide Pro and ThrowDown at Thredbo Ski Resort

Thredbo turned on perfect weather and perfect snow conditions for the Rip Curl FreeRide Pro today. After a slow start to the winter over 1.6 metres of snow has fallen across the Snowy Mountains in the first two weeks of August, including 15cms in the past 48 hours leading into the event. The expert terrain in Thredbo’s Bluff area, offered competitors plenty of opportunities with the natural rock jumps and wind lips complemented by a number of man-made features and kickers. Thredbo Blizzard Count up to 70cm

This blizzard has really been good to us. There isn’t much more to say here other than another 15cm today, Thredbo’s tally for this cold front has been 70cm.
