Catching Up With The SnowFox Crew

Last season we caught up with the guys at SnowFox Crew, a group of dedicated skiers and snowboarders based out of Mt Buller who were taking life one party at a time. 2009 was their year of inception and what ensued was a series of snow related events hosted by the Crew around Melbourne and Mt Buller. The guys definitely knew how to put on a social gathering. Since then (a mere 12 months on) SnowFox represents far more than just Event Management and we caught up with founder and managing director John E Collins, or JC as many know him, to find out what 2010 will bring.

Rise from the Indoors – Pim Stigter Interview.

Pim Stigter, a 20 year old dutch snowboarder has had an unconventional rise to become a professional snowboarder. From his humble beginnings at his hometown resort of Snowworld Zoetermeer (An indoor resort), he now travels the world thanks to his sponsors O’Neill, VANS, Elan snowboards to name but a few.

Apart from a trip to the Austrian Alps at the age of four, Pim was relatively unaware of snowboarding with an unavailability of any major resorts in Holland. “After I saw a snowboard half pipe contest in Fieberbrünn , Austria .  I really wanted to try that, so I did. The Rising Cost of Riding

Every year the cost of riding rises. Inflation alone ensures prices go up slightly but beyond that we also see price increases to cover expanding costs of running a resort. A days riding can amount to quite a sum, especially if you need to hire gear or find accommodation. A lift ticket alone is enough to send you broke and sometimes it hardly seems worth it, I once paid $94 for a “daily” lift ticket I purchased at 12:30 p.m. for 3 lifts and 4 runs. And to a first timer the budget is easy to blow out when costs you never even considered come into play. All these costs are annoying but I understand they are necessary. Read more »
